Korean banks plan to double their intake of staff without university degrees to reduce academic snobbery and improve employment conditions for people who did not go to college,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

The sales and marketing world is awash in jargon and euphemisms. Examples: "We will study the cross-promotional dynamics, identify revenue stream enhancement opportunities and determine and develop deal mechanics;" or "Our platform is a synergistic best of breed solution for managing departmental and interpersonal relationships in order to identify and optimally utilize resources." Huh? Reading this is much like listening to a 5-year-old recap a SpongeBob episode.
Because it's everywhere, it's easy to unconsciously let corporate speak,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], jargon and euphemisms creep into your sales presentation. Remember, a major reason why customers don't buy is their inability to understand and trust what they are being told. Buyers see red flags in a salesperson's use of terms that sugarcoat,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], obscure,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], mislead and confuse. Who can blame them?
"Big words don't equal a bigger brain, intelligent people who are confident in their message and passionate about what they do don't need obscure language to communicate," writes John McFerran.

You can't escape it. Unintelligible, obscure, misdirecting and pretentious language is everywhere you turn.
One company, in an attempt to make job titles sound uber-important,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], identifies their Marketing Manager as Vice President, Sales Enablement Strategies and their Sales Manager as Vice President, Sales Process and Practices. Guys, these were already very important jobs and really didn't need bombastic corporate embellishment.

No matter how great your parents were, you accidentally started to protect yourself from them and the world.
“I was in bed thinking about my 5-year-old and the problems he is having with interpersonal relationships at school and a little bit with his nanny. He seems to talk back and he can be a tyrant. Also he is not quite a big follower of authority. I know sometimes he says to me you don’t think I am smart,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so obviously this is in his mind. I thought to myself about a CD where you spoke of playing positive affirmations, I think to baroque music for your son Trevor.”

As we head into a new year, still reeling from the shock of 2001, it’s time to bring our corporations back to the days of the local business. Everyone knew everyone else. Each manager cared about his/her employees and about their progress. I urge you, as a business leader, to rethink the way you are showing your people how much you care and need them.
